I have finally got the chance to visit the top of Burj Khalifa today! It was a trip organized by the Student Council for the Independent Learning Activity Day in Zayed University. It was a great experience, and I am going to share some snap shots of the trip in this post. Let's start!
I liked the phrase (before going to the top)
Part of the view from the top. I loved how cars seemed like the ones I used to play with as a kid!
On the left is Sheikh Zayed Road
One of my favorite shots of the day
Another part of Dubai.
This was super awesome. I especially loved the 'Time Travel' part of it. Even though we know it, it is hard to imagine that Sheikh Zayed Road and all those buildings were nothing but sand only few years ago.
At the Souvenir shop
My personal favorite. A tourist viewing Dubai.
I always knew that I loved Dubai. But being on top of it all and seeing it makes you really go 'wow'. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is like our Dubai.
Simply, Burj Khalifa explains all the Dubai-haters out there.
On another note, it was funny how all the tourists stared at us. It felt as if we're aliens, or better yet, creatures in a zoo or something. Some tourists asked to take pictures of us. Some asked to take pictures with us. A couple of my friends agreed when a German tourist asked them to have a picture with them. He was thrilled that they said yes and the next thing we knew was that he stood in the middle between the two girls and extended his arms to hold them both! I was shocked! I was telling him DON'T TOUCH but he was a German who does not speak English. I kept moving my hands signaling that he should not touch them! Unfortunately, I don't speak any German, or else I would've explained why he shouldn't do that. And that man was freaked out. I mean it. He had this mixture of fear and shock expressions on his face. He quickly posed for the camera and then left. The other German guy who stood in between the girls held his hands in front of him, to make sure he does not touch the girls whatsoever.
That was a funny incident which reassured my belief that our culture should be spread more widely. There should be a quick do's and don'ts sheet distributed to the tourists in Dubai, or at least something similar.
That's it for today,
- Sana H.
